Working Days Calculator for Denominators for Dialysis Event Surveillance Form

This calculator is intended to help NHSN users determine the first and second working days of the month when completing the Denominators for Dialysis Event Surveillance form.

Instructions
  1. For the time period you plan to enter denominator data, select the month and year from the corresponding drop-down menus.
  2. Complete the "Dialysis Shifts" section, and click "Submit" to view the first two working days of the month.
  3. If your facility was closed for one or both of the first two working days generated by the calculator, select "Yes" in Section 3 and alternative days will be provided.

Each row represents the schedule for a particular shift of dialysis patients.

Example 1: If your facility has two shifts of patients where shift 1 receives dialysis during the day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and shift 2 receives dialysis during the day on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the check boxes would be filled in as follows:

Example 2: If your facility has three shifts of patients where shift 1 receives dialysis during the day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, shift 2 receives dialysis at night on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and shift 3 receives dialysis during the day on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the check boxes would be filled in as follows:

Check the boxes to indicate dialysis patient shifts at your facility. An error message will appear if an improbable combination of weekdays are selected. Click "Submit" to view the first two working days of the month.
